Drops of Hope

Every day, thousands of children spend their time on the streets of Kiev, Ukraine. These children eat most of their meals from a dumpster and sniff glue so they don’t have to think about how cold, hungry or lonely they are. When Cooperative Baptist Fellowship field personnel Gennady and Mina Podgaisky moved to Ukraine in…

Firmly Planting Roots in the Gospel

An 80 percent hearing loss and speech impediment doesn’t discourage Scott Blanchard from remaining committed to his calling. As a church planter and pastor of Lakepointe Church in Detroit, Scott uses his disability to encourage and connect with others. He proves each day that God can use anyone who is willing to be His servant.…

Redeeming the Shadows

Every now and then someone will ask me why a Baptist church uses the language of Lent. It’s a good question, and one that you’re probably familiar with if you’ve been involved with Emmanuel or another similar Baptist congregation. Chickens, rabbits, turkeys, geese, goats, sheep, and a horse named Ol’ Yeller were many of the highlights enjoyed by first through sixth graders on Emmanuel’s Animal Farm trip last week.
